Out of these thousands and thousands of lakes, there is one that is the lake of Finland and that is the Lake Saimaa, the biggest lake in Finland and one of the most beautiful lakes in the world according to the Wall Street Journal (2014). Summer School at Lappeenranta University of Technology
LUT Summer School is the perfect program for students who wish to study and gain in-depth understanding of contemporary, relevant topics in business and technology, while also experiencing the beauty of Finland in summer!
The summer school offers students an ideal way to become acquainted with the wide range of academic opportunities at Lappeenranta University of Technology and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. Organized between 16th of July and 10th of August, LUT Summer School offers many unforgettable experiences. With the extensive selection of courses, the program aims to both challenge and inspire you. Master’s courses are provided by Lappeenranta University of Technology and bachelor’s courses by Saimaa University of Applied Sciences.
Students have the freedom of choice to choose single modules or combined modules, provided that the schedules do not overlap and the prerequisites for attendance are met. The program lasts from 1 to 4 weeks, depending on the student’s module choices.

Tuition fees
For partner university students
- Tuition fee: for 3-4 weeks 895€; for 2 weeks 695€. Includes course material, lunches and social activities
- Accommodation: for 3-4 weeks 500€; for 2 weeks 400€
For non-partner university students
- Tuition fee: for 3-4 weeks 995€; for 2 weeks 795€. Includes course material, lunches and social activities
- Accommodation: for 3-4 weeks 500€; for 2 weeks 400€
If you are already a LUT degree student, the tuition fee for the summer school is free (excluding lunches and social activities). Additionally, students will cover accommodation by themselves.
- Social activities: for 1-2 weeks 139€; for 3-4 weeks 199€

Admission requirements
- Bachelor’s and master’s students in the fields of technology and business. For detailed admission requirements, please check the course descriptions!
- Fluency in English – all courses are taught fully in English thus good English skills are required to follow the lectures. No language tests are required.
- Each course has its specific course prerequisites. Make sure you meet all of them.
Accommodation
All students are provided with a furnished single room in shared apartments (2-3 rooms/apartment, shared bathroom and shower and kitchen). The residences are within easy walking distance of the university. Please note that LUT students will not be provided with an apartment!
Visit St. Petersburg, Russia
With an unbeatable location, Lappeenranta is only 230 km away from the third largest metropolis in Europe, St Petersburg in Russia. St. Petersburg is a place everybody needs to experience and LUT Summer School offers you two self-financed opportunities to visit the stunning Venice of the North. Visit companies in St. Petersburg, enjoy the stunning rivers and canals from a cruise, eat delicious traditional Russian food and visit the State Hermitage Museum!
Students have two opportunities to travel to St. Petersburg, both self-financed:
- Complementary part of the course “Doing Business in Russia”, cost 470€ without visa costs
- Weekend trip with organized cultural program, cost 430€

Social program
Though studying at LUT is a great experience and helps develop your professional skills, there is a lot going on outside the classroom as well. Get to know your classmates all around the world at welcome dinner, enjoy the traditional Finnish sauna nights, go clubbing with your new friends, etc. There are many activities for you to experience the Finnish culture more in-depth!
Lappeenranta in summer
Lappeenranta, a city of 72,000 residents located in Southeast Finland, combines cozy small-town atmosphere with full-scale urban comforts. International visitors soon pick up on the relaxed vibe and get the most of their “Lappeenranta Experience”. As the town weaves its slow magic on arriving students, soon they do not want to leave at all. There is no better time to fall under the spell of Lappeenranta than summer!
During summertime Finland lights up, quite literally, as summer is the brightest season of the year and the sun stays up the whole night. Nothing beats going to sauna and take a swim in the lake during summer! Enjoy a cruise on the Lake Saimaa, visit the harbor (“Satama” in Finnish) and enjoy Finland at its finest!
