“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato
Listening to music~ one of the many ways to relax, a great way to escape stress. It may even help you express how you feel. Rhythm and blues, pop, classical, jazz, reggae, soul, funk, opera, easy listening or even alternative rock, It calms you and helps you distress anytime. Finnish music is not an exception. It’s diverse styles, rhythm and melody cannot help people listen constantly!
I wasn’t interested in Finnish songs in the beginning, maybe because I’ve never heard one before. However, after I participated in the opening ceremony of the University of Helsinki, where they invited a band to perform, it definitely changed my impression. The uniqueness, emotion, and melody drew my attention and drive me to explore more!
When listening to the Finnish music, it’s easy to get into the emotional rhythm, say the vocal style of Jenni Vartiainen, for example. Such type of music is even promoted around rest of the world. It is beautiful, elegant and sounds very gentle. This is exactly how I feel when listening to Finnish music. The structures, layers, and rhythms of the songs are well-constructed. Finnish music provides a mysterious sound, a different communal vibe, an impression.
Finnish music exudes elegance and very melodic. Upon watching their music videos, they do not have any storylines but rather only take a focus video with the singers when singing the lyrics. The videos use differently awesome and have simple backgrounds to match with the song’s theme. The audience can feel the mood of the whole song. Such practice is totally different from Korea. If the music videos in Korea does not use a different filming skill, special backgrounds nor attractive actors, less audience is willing to watch the music video even though the songs’ qualities are high.
Finnish songs are very relaxing, Bored or stressed, you might give a try to listen to a Finnish song, you may find it surprisingly good and they offer a broad spectrum of genres!
