Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) is an international higher education institution situated in the region of Satakunta on the beautiful coastal area of Finland. The school has campuses in the picturesque towns of Pori and Rauma. Currently, there are approximately 6,000 enrolled students and 400 employees. Out of the students, more than 300 are international exchange and degree students, coming from 60 different countries, making the experience of study at SAMK truly international.

WHAT IS BLENDED LEARNING?
Blended learning combines online and traditional lectures to a versatile education program. It gives the students the chance to study where and when they want and attend lectures online. Please note that at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences degrees with blended learning do not make you eligible to apply for a Finnish residence permit.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS & SCHOLARSHIP
For bachelor’s degree:
- Copy of final/official secondary school certificate or vocational qualification
For master’s degree:
- Copy of bachelor’s degree certificate
- Transcript of Records
- Employment certificate with a minimum of 3 years work experience
Additional documentation required for both degrees
- Passport ID page or official ID card
- A proof of English proficiency
- IELTS: 5.5, TOEFL 46-192, or equivalent
You will also need one of the following:
- Gaokao exam results from 2016 or 2017 that will place you to Tier 2 in your province
- SAT test with a minimum score of 500 from both Evidence-Based Reading/Writing and Math Sections after March 1, 2016
- Adequate result in online exam
ONLINE EXAM
If you decide to take part in the online exam, submit your application with the required attachments. Afterwards, if you meet the requirements, you will be invited for an online exam.

Bachelor’s degrees
- 7,000€ per academic year
Master’s degrees
- 8,000€ per academic year
Scholarships in Satakunta University of Applied Sciences are granted from the second year onward. Students can apply for the scholarship during their first year of studies at SAMK. The criteria for receiving the scholarship are that the student has gained at least 55 ECTS credits for his/her degree per each academic year as present. The scholarship is available only for the optimum study time for the degree in question. The optimum study times depend on the degree.
PORI CAMPUS
Located in the city center of Pori, next to the railway station and bus terminal, this brand new campus offers comfortable facilities for over 4,000 students. The whole campus works as a learning environment. There are multiple places for students to study at and ideal places for group work.
RAUMA CAMPUS
The Rauma campus is located right next to the Rauma Harbor and is the most international SAMK campus. This recently renovated campus offers students a wide range of modern places to study.
SAMK Rauma is really international! Loads of foreign degree students as well as exchange students. Wide range of courses in English. Also, all communication on campus in English. Good and motivated teaching staff. Various projects that give you valuable experience of work life. Campus premises very safe and secure. Hey, Finland is the safest country in the world! STUDENT LIFE
SAMK offers students several possibilities to enhance their knowledge and practical skills. In addition to traditional lectures, thesis and exams, SAMK offers various chances to learn through projects.
The Enterprise Accelerator program guides students who have a business idea or have already started their own business. The students will also be assisted in enterprise succession or in the acquisition of an enterprise.
SAMK has plenty of international connections and partnership universities in many countries around the world. International operations include exchange of students, trainees, teachers and experts, development of study contents in cooperation with foreign partners, internationalizing study plans and various RDI projects.
Meals
There is a student cafeteria on both campuses where students can buy meals at discounted prices with a student card.
Gym
There is a gym at the Pori campus which is open for all students.
Health care
Soteekki is the center for SAMK’s Social Services and Health Care, offering high-quality and inexpensive health care services for all students.
Library
The library is a meeting place where learning and research are supported. The library provides professional literature, journals and online resources. Library staff will help students with finding information and using printed and online materials.
BYOD – Bring Your Own Device
SAMK requires the use of personal terminal equipment in studies from the beginning of autumn semester 2017. The recommended operating system is Windows 7 or a newer one.
STUDENT UNION SAMMAKKO
In Finland belonging to a union whether as a student or in working life is common. Unions in Finland protect the rights of its members and are not affiliated with politics. Student union SAMMAKKO is a dynamic community of students in Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. The student union exists to provide representation, facilities, services and activities to its members. SAMMAKKO has about 2800 members and represents altogether 6000 students locally, regionally and nationally.
Get involved! All degree students in SAMK can join the student union. The membership costs 16€ for a semester and 30€ for a year. When you join the student union and download the digital student card, you are entitled to all the student benefits in Finland.
