UniAgents European Education Summit 2018 (UES 2018), held in Helsinki from October 30 to November 1, certainly showed what Finnish education is all about. The event brings together universities, high schools and education consultants around the world to discuss the current trends in student mobility. The three-day conference was kicked-off with the welcoming words of the Deputy Mayor of Helsinki Ms. Sanna Vesikansa at Helsinki City Hall, followed by a reception dinner and networking.
Edunation together with it partners, Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, co-hosted over 100 education consultants from more than 30 different countries. Altogether, participation hovered near 300 people, including over 100 higher education institutions, faculty members, esteemed speakers, and dedicated volunteers.
Hosting the UniAgents European Summit for the first time in Finland allowed participants to learn more about the Finnish higher education scene and gain inspiration for their work back home.
In addition to the successful B2B meetings, for many, keynote speaker Ambassador Vani Rao, was the highlight of the day; delivering an empowering and insightful message on the importance of education for society. Equipped with many insights, thoughts and real examples on what India can learn from Finland with regards to education, Ms. Vani Rao showed her passion for lifelong learning and connected well with the delegates and educational professionals in the audience.
Valuable sessions were also delivered by Edunation, Mr. Peter Vesterbacka, Haaga-Helia, Metropolia as well as VisitFinland. Campus tours, high school visits, B2B meetings, workshops on education in Finland made for a well-rounded program.
