Ranking: Tuition Fee Prices and Tips for Students

When applying to study abroad, one of the most important factors can be the tuition fee. How much does it cost to study this program? Are there any scholarship opportunities? These are questions that almost everyone asks themselves, when hoping to study abroad at a university.

This blog post will give you a clear idea of what are the most affordable study programs that Edunation offers. Additionally, you’ll see selected programs which rank in the middle and in the more expensive end, when it comes to tuition fee prices. Let’s get started!

The most affordable degrees

Edunation has two partner universities; Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK), that offer very affordable study programs.

1. Kajaani University of Applied Sciences(KAMK)

All of the study programs at KAMK have a tuition fee of 6000€ per academic year. There are four programs in total:

KAMK also offers an Early Bird scholarship for students, that covers 50% of the tuition fee. Furthermore, there is a possibility for a 3000€ scholarship from the second year onwards. If students receive 55 ECTS credits during an academic year and pass a national Finnish language test, they also have the opportunity to get one academic year for free! With all of these opportunities, KAMK is definitely the most affordable option amongst our universities.

2. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences(SeAMK)

At SeAMK, the tuition fee is 7000€ per academic year. SeAMK offers two bachelor’s degree programs in English:

All first-year students at SeAMK will be automatically granted a scholarship worth 3000€. This means that you only have to pay 70% of the tuition fee for the first year! Sounds great, right? After the first year, there is a possibility to get a scholarship that covers 30% of the tuition fee + a one-off scholarship of 1000€ if you achieve a B1 CEFR level in Finnish language. Plenty of scholarship opportunities at SeAMK as well!

Mid-priced study degrees

There are a lot more options when we move towards the middle range of the tuition fee prices. Tuition fees in this rank range from 8500€ to 9700€. We will introduce several study programs from four different universities.

3. Arcada University of Applied Sciences

At Arcada, there are two bachelor’s degrees available in English:

Both of these programs have a tuition fee price of 8500€ per academic year. The university also offers an Early Bird discount to students who accept their study place within 14 days. By doing this, the tuition fee for the first academic year is reduced by 4000€. From the second year onwards, students can receive scholarships that cover a maximum of 50% of the tuition fee based on their study achievements. Arcada is still a very affordable option for many international students. It has a great perk as well, as it is located in Helsinki!

4. Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK)

SAMK offers many bachelor’s level degrees in the fields of Engineering, Hospitality, Marine Technology, AI, Health Care and Business Administration. Here are is a list of the selected degrees:

All study programs at SAMK (except for Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence) cost 9500€ per academic year. Moreover, SAMK offers students the possibility to get a scholarship that covers 50% of the tuition fee.

5. LUT University

LUT is a research university that offers both bachelor’s and master’s level studies. The bachelor’s degrees at LUT have tuition fee price of 9500€ per academic year. This makes it suitable for a mid-range budget.

LUT has four bachelor’s degrees, all in the field of Technology and Engineering Science:

From the second year onwards, students have the opportunity to get tuition fee waivers that are either 50% or 100%. For example, a student will get a 100% tuition fee waiver if they successfully complete their studies during the 1stand 2ndacademic year (min. 60 ECTS credits). Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

6. Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK)

The last university on our mid-range ranking of tuition fees is HAMK. HAMK has a great selection of study programs in English. In total, there are 8 different programs:

Scholarships at HAMK are granted based on a student’s Finnish language skills. If you reach an A2 level in Finnish language, you get a scholarship worth 3200€. For a B1 level achievement (higher), the scholarship is 6500€.

Lastly, we will cover the higher end of our tuition fee ranking list. This ranking will include both bachelor’s and master’s level studies. We will go through three different universities.

7. Metropolia University of Applied Sciences

Metropolia is a very sought-after university in Helsinki. Their bachelor’s and master’s degrees range from 10000€ to 12500€ in tuition fees. The following three programs have a tuition fee of the lower end of this range, 10000€ per academic year:

At Metropolia, scholarships are also granted based on a student’s Finnish language skills. The scholarship is worth 3000€ and applies to both bachelor’s and master’s programs.

8. Hanken School of Economics

Hanken offers a master’s program in Economics and Business Administration. The tuition fee is 12500€ per academic year. Hanken grants scholarships based on students’ academic excellence in previous studies and applicable test score results.

9. Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS)

The final university to be introduced in our ranking is TUAS. TUAS offers two bachelor’s degrees in English:

The tuition fee for the ICT program is 11500€ per academic year. For the ECEC program, the tuition fee is 10500€ per academic year. Again, scholarships are granted based on a student’s skills in Finnish language. The amount of the scholarship is 4000€.
