Introduction
When international students dream about studying abroad, the “big four” destinations—the US, UK, Canada, and Australia — often come to mind first. But in recent years, more and more young people and their parents have discovered other destinations that combine world-class education, affordability, and strong career opportunities. Germany is a world-class example of these.
Now, thanks to a newly launched partnership between Edunation and German Educare, the door to Germany will open wider than ever before. Together, we will make the path to studying, living, and working in Germany clearer, smoother, and more accessible for students worldwide.
“We are extremely excited about this opportunity to work as strategic partners — or more like as one team — together with our friends at Edunation! It is great to join forces with a truly international organization and open more German doors for students worldwide. It is also super exciting that Edunation has been part of Keystone from 2024 onwards. This partnership brings joy and benefits for everyone.”
– Gyvinne Koh, Founder CEO of German Educare.
Why Germany stands out
World-Class Education at an Affordable Price
Germany is home to some of the best universities in the world, particularly in fields like engineering, business, and technology. Unlike most study destinations, public universities in Germany charge no or little tuition fees, even for international students.
Strong Industry Connections and High Employability
German universities work hand-in-hand with global industry leaders like BMW, Siemens, and Bosch, but also with ample of small and medium size companies, which are one of the main contributors to German economy. Students benefit from internships, industry projects, and cutting-edge research opportunities that prepare them directly for high-demand jobs. Most often the job contract is already sealed before students even graduate.
Dual Vocational Training: Earn While You Learn
Not every student chooses the university route. Germany’s Dual Vocational Training (DVT) programme combines classroom learning with professional work experience. Students get to earn a salary while training in respected companies — a model that has become the backbone of Germany’s strong workforce.
A Clear Path to Residency and Career Growth
After graduation, international students are given 18 months to find employment. Once employed, they can secure a work visa and move toward permanent residency. With one of the strongest economies in the world, Germany offers real long-term career prospects for international graduates.
How we came together
This partnership is as natural as it is timely
It began when Gyvinne Koh, co-founder and CEO of German Educare, met Susanne Suominen, co-founder and COO of Edunation, at EUROCHAM Malaysia’s board meeting. What started as a casual conversation quickly revealed a shared vision: both organizations exist to help students find better education and brighter careers in Europe.
German Educare had built a strong foundation in guiding hundreds of Malaysian students to Germany. Edunation had helped thousands of students succeed in Finland and beyond. Instead of competing, both organizations realized how much stronger they could be together.
The timing was perfect: German Educare wanted to expand its reach beyond Malaysia, while Edunation wanted to add Germany as a new destination for its network of students, agents, and partner institutions.
“German Educare has the offering and infrastructure that is like a match made in heaven for Edunation. Instead of inventing the wheel again, we can seamlessly plug into the existing setup and bring added value for all parties involved.”
Susanne Suominen, Co-founder and COO of Edunation.
A keystone moment: Susanne and Gyvinne sealing the deal.
Benefits for everyone
For Students and Families
- Clearer pathways into tuition-free university studies or paid vocational training.
- Language and cultural preparation that makes the move abroad less daunting.
- Real support before departure, on arrival, and throughout the journey.
For Universities
- Brand awareness spread across the world with top-notch outreach strategies.
- Motivated, well-prepared international students who are ready to integrate, succeed, and bring diversity and fresh perspectives into classrooms.
For Recruitment Partners
- A broader portfolio of high-quality European pathways to offer their students, increasing trust and collaboration opportunities.
For Societies
- Both Germany and Finland face talent shortages in sectors like engineering, healthcare, and IT. Together, we help close this gap by supporting skilled young people who are ready to contribute long-term to society and the economy.
“It is important that the values and ambitions match. This is very true between Edunation and German Educare — at the end, it is the people behind organizations who do everything. It is cool to work with cool people! And enjoy time outside of office and Teams meetings, just like we were doing last Friday when we officially signed our partnership agreement.”
Harri Suominen, Co-founder and Chief Innovations Officer of Edunation.
Student success stories
What makes this cooperation so exciting are the stories we’ve already seen.
Through Dual Vocational Training, students who were once told they were “not academically fit” have gone on to learn German in just months, secure training placements, and graduate into full-time jobs. They not only changed their own futures but also became role models for others back home.
University pathway students are equally inspiring. Kit Wai, for example, pursued a double Master’s degree at RWTH Aachen and Tsinghua University, both among the top universities in the world. Another student, Je Cuan, started his Bachelor in Germany, and now doing PhD in University of Cologne. Others have competed in — and won — global competitions such as Formula Student and the CERN Spring Campus hackathon.
Looking ahead
Our partnership is about more than enabling individual success stories. It’s about changing the perception of what is possible — proving that with the right preparation and support, students from various background can access high-quality, tuition-free education and build meaningful careers in Europe.
A keystone moment: Susanne and Gyvinne sealing the deal.
Together, Edunation and German Educare want to create thousands more stories of courage, growth, and global success.
“For many who dream of settling in Europe and building fulfilling careers, Germany as a European powerhouse offers the ideal combination: world-class education, strong industry connections, and clear residency pathways. It’s a place where students can truly build their future.”
Snigdha Sharma, Strategic Partnerships Manager of Edunation.
