The program aims to prepare students for middle and upper-level management and leadership roles in international business. It develops a systematic understanding of advanced knowledge in the field, along with critical awareness of key international business theories and concepts.
Students build strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities, supported by training in research methods that include both qualitative and quantitative approaches. They also learn how to evaluate business data while recognising its limitations, and how to apply this information in strategic decision-making within complex international environments.
A strong emphasis is placed on ethical, legal, and social responsibility in business practice, as well as on developing effective communication, interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills. The program also encourages reflection, continuous professional development, and the ability to respond to global and cultural diversity in organisational decision-making.
The MB in International Business at American College Dublin consists of seven taught modules alongside a dissertation or an internship research project.
Students complete three core modules: Cross-cultural management, International corporate finance, and Designing and conducting research. In addition, they choose four elective modules from a range of subjects including international regulatory environment, political economy, international entrepreneurship, business ethics and corporate governance, strategic marketing, corporate policy, and selected energy-related business topics.
The program concludes with either a dissertation or an internship research project, which serves as a capstone experience. This allows students to integrate and apply what they have learned throughout the program into a substantial piece of research.
Graduates of the MB in International Business at American College Dublin are prepared for management and leadership roles in international organisations, particularly in middle and senior-level positions. The program builds strategic, analytical, and global business competencies that are highly relevant to multinational environments.
Students also develop transferable career skills such as cross-cultural management, strategic thinking, communication, leadership, teamwork, data interpretation, time management, and problem-solving. These skills support graduates in pursuing careers in international business or progressing to further academic study, including potential doctoral-level research.
