  • Transcript of records with a GPA of 50% or above. This is required to be able to apply through Edunation.
  • Translations of the documents in Finnish, Swedish or English, if the original document is in none of those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.

Note: Original copies must be shown when arriving in Finland.

Proof of nationality

  • Copy of passport ID page OR official ID card indicating the nationality

Portfolio assignment

The Bachelor Program in Smart and Sustainable Design also requires a Portfolio assignment to be submitted together with the application. Please read the instructions for the Portfolio assignment before starting to create it. The Portfolio consists of two parts (a motivation letter and a design assignment). All applicants that pass both parts of the Portfolio assignment are invited to an online interview with HAMK.

All applicants regardless of their grades can apply to HAMK by taking part in an online entrance exam and interview.

Entrance exams are organized four to six times during the application period, depending on the program. Applicants will always be invited to the next possible exam after submitting the online application and the necessary attachments.

The invitation will be sent by e-mail approximately one week before the exam, and you cannot choose the exam date by yourself.

NB!  Applicants to the Smart and Sustainable Design program cannot participate in an exam – instead, they are required to submit a Portfolio Assignment together with their application.

Entrance exams are organized online.

Generally, the entrance exam consists of an essay, a section measuring mathematical/logical thinking, a compulsory section measuring English language proficiency. However, the content changes depending on the program you are applying to. You can check “HAMK entrance exam info September 2021″ for more detailed information about each entrance exam.

The purpose of the interview is to get an idea of the applicant’s English language level and to get to know them on a more personal level. In the interview, there will be questions that relate to the studies, as well as some general questions about the student and their goals for their studies and future.

Applicants that pass all parts of the written exam will be invited to an online interview within one week of the written exam.

You must pass all parts of the exam in order to be able to be selected for admission. If you fail to reach the minimum points in any of the exam parts or in the total score, you will be disqualified. Applicants are not given separate points for the language test, and it’s graded only a pass/fail.

NB! If you have IELTS with at least a score of 6.5, you need to do only the online written exam, without taking part in the interview.

Applicants can also choose to apply to HAMK with their SAT Test scores. Applicants who submit SAT scores will not have to participate in the entrance exam and interview.

Note that applicants to the International Business program can only apply through the exam and interview, not with SAT scores.

If you apply with SAT scores, HAMK requires a minimum score of 500 from Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 500 from Mathematics. Only new SAT scores taken after 1 March 2016 are accepted. You need to request the test score report to be sent to HAMK directly from the testing center. HAMK’s code is 6894.

Note: All documents need to be translated to English, if the original document is not in English. The translations need to be signed and stamped by the translator.
