Helsinki School of Business, also known as HELBUS, is a private university located in Helsinki. Founded in 2012, HELBUS is a fairly new establishment. However, due to their young age, the university has a modern approach and best up-to-date education.

In 2016, HELBUS partnered with University of Northampton which is a well-known university in the UK with roots dating to the 13th century. After completing your studies at HELBUS, you will earn a degree from University of Northampton. The UK university takes pride in the high employability rate of its graduates.

Moreover, the school invites lecturers from other universities and countries to deliver modules for HELBUS students. The class sizes in HELBUS are kept small, so the professors can provide more personalized teaching. This enables them to instruct and guide each student according their needs.

STUDY PROGRAMS

Through Edunation, Helsinki School of Business offers EU/EEA students three business programs: bachelor’s degree program, TOP-UP program, and MBA program.

If you have two years of business studies behind you at your home university, you could be eligible to apply for HELBUS’ third year TOP-UP program.

You would study the final year of your business studies at HELBUS and earn a bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from the University of Northampton.

Bachelor’s degree

  • Bachelor of Arts in Business and Management (BA Hons)
    • The first 2 years = 120 ECTS (240 UK credits)
    • Final year = 60 ECTS (120 UK credits)

Master’s degree

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
    • 3 terms (12 months) = 90 ECTS

Admission criteria

The application process is fast and simple. The students are accepted on a first come, first served basis which means that if you meet the admission requirements, you can get your acceptance already in a month.

Currently the application is only open for EU/EEA students and students who have a residence permit in Finland.

Educational background

Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:

For bachelor’s degree:

  • Copy of the final/official higher secondary school certificate or vocational qualification which gives eligibility for higher education studies in your own country

For TOP-UP program:

  • Copy of the final/official higher secondary school certificate or vocational qualification which gives eligibility for higher education studies in your own country
  • Transcript of records from a university showing 2 years of business studies

Proof of nationality

  • Copy of EU passport OR copy of non-EU passport and Finnish residence permit

Language requirements

EU/EEA students don’t need a formal English language proficiency test, but you should demonstrate sufficient English skills in the application form and your high school diploma.

Interview

After you have completed the application form and uploaded the required documents, HELBUS will review it and send you an invitation for a Skype interview.

Language requirements

A proof of English proficiency is required for all degrees at HELBUS. You can prove your proficiency in one of the following ways:

  • IELTS: 6.5, with no section below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: 88
  • You have studied your previous degree in English
  • You use English as your working language and your supervisor writes a letter stating this

The language certificate must be valid during the application period. The Pearson test of English, IELTS and TOEFL certificates are valid for two years. There are no limitations on the period of validity of the other certificates. A TOEFL test score will only be accepted if it has been directly submitted from the TOEFL Educational Testing Service (ETS). Edunation’s TOEFL code is C046.

Others documents

  • Personal statement. The statement must clearly justify why you would be a suitable candidate for your chosen program, and what motivated you to apply. The statement will also represent your written English skills, so do ensure that there are no errors, your grammar is correct and structure well  thought out. Max 4000 characters.
  • Academic reference letter. A professional reference letter is also recommended.
  • CV (if your bachelor’s degree is not from the field of business)
  • Note that HELBUS may also evaluate you based on your academic performance during bachelor’s studies.

Tuition Fees & Scholarship

Tuition Fees

Bachelor’s degrees

At Helsinki Business School, the same tuition fees apply to both EU and non-EU citizens in the bachelor’s programs.

The tuition fee per academic year is 9410 € and it can be paid in two instalments if you are an EU/EEA student.

Fees
  • The tuition fee in the full-time program is 4705 € per term.
  • The total tuition fee for the bachelor’s degree studies will amount to 28 230 € (six terms).

Master’s degrees

EU/EEA students are required to pay 15 300 € for the whole study program. The amount must be paid in full before receiving the official acceptance letter.
