Admission criteria

The application process is fast and simple. The students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis which means that if you meet the minimum criteria, you can get your acceptance within a month.

New admission criteria for the September 2022 intake will be announced later. The following criteria are related to the previous intake (January 2022).

Make sure you have all the following documents ready when you fill out the application form.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:

  • Copy of the final/official higher secondary school certificate or vocational qualification which gives eligibility for higher education studies in your own country
  • Transcript of records

A student graduating in fall 2021 must provide a copy of the diploma by 31 December 2021.

Note: Original certificates must be shown when arriving in Finland. All documents need to be translated to English, Finnish or Swedish if the original document is in none of those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by the translator.

PROOF OF NATIONALITY

  • Passport ID page OR official ID card indicating nationality

Note: You will need a valid passport when you apply for a visa or residence permit.

ENTRANCE EXAM OR SAT TEST

Students can be admitted through an entrance exam or with SAT Test.

The entrance exam will be held

  • in Saint Petersburg, Russia, at the beginning of October 2021
  • in Hanoi, Vietnam, during week 41.

The exact time and venues will be informed to the applicants closer to the date.

International Business’s entrance exam

The entrance examination consists of the following sections (minimum/maximum points):

  • Spoken Part (min 10 points, max 30 points)
  • Essay based on material given during the exam (min 10 points, max 30 points)
  • Multiple-choice based on material given in the exam (min 4 points, max 10 points)
  • Logical thinking and mathematics (min 8 points, max 30 points)

You must pass each test section with the minimum points mentioned above in order to qualify in the selection process. There is no pre-reading material for the examination. All material will be given during the examination.

The essay will test written English language skills. The aim of the spoken part is to measure the candidates’ motivation, suitability and career orientation towards international business studies and oral English language skills required in the degree program. A separate English language test will not be arranged.

The logical thinking and mathematics part consists of multiple-choice questions about percentage, proportionality and probability calculations, logical thinking and equation solving problems. No calculators can be used in the examination.

The structure and scoring of the exam are preliminary and may be specified later.

Business Information Technology’s entrance exam

The entrance examination consists of the following sections (minimum/maximum points):

  • Part 1. Essay (min 5 points, max 15 points)
  • Part 2. Mathematics & logic (min 3 points, max 15 points)
  • Part 3. Video (fail/pass)

Total: 30 points (min 8 points)

You must pass each test section with the minimum points mentioned above in order to qualify in the selection process. There is no pre-reading material for the examination. All material will be given during the examination.

The essay will test written English language skills. The logical thinking and mathematics part consists of multiple-choice questions about percentage, proportionality and probability calculations, logical thinking, and equation solving problems. No calculators can be used in the examination.

The aim of the video is to evaluate the candidate’s motivation, suitability and career orientation towards business information technology studies and oral English language skills required in the degree program. The video is delivered by October 3 and instructions will be provided later.

SAT TEST

As an alternative to the entrance examination, you can take an SAT test.

LAB University of Applied Sciences requires the SAT test results from the following two sections with certain minimum points:

  • Evidence-based reading and writing (min score 480)
  • Math (min score 500)

The SAT score must arrive at LAB Admission Services directly from the test organizer, College Board. The code for LAB University of Applied Sciences is 7191.

The SAT test result needs to be received at LAB University of Applied Sciences by 29 October 2021.

International Tourism and Event Management

Tuition Fees & Scholarship

Tuition Fees

Students who are from a non-EU/EEA country are required to pay a tuition fee. The fee for the bachelor’s degree programs is 8 000 € per academic year and for the master’s degree programs is 9 000 € per academic year and for the master’s degree programs is

Scholarships

The scholarship is based on a 50% reduction in the fee for the second year (1.8. – 31.7.), if the student manages to complete a minimum of 55 ECTS during the first year. In addition, a 50% reduction applies to all the following years, if the student has completed a minimum of 55 ECTS during the previous academic year. This policy will be applied until the end of the study time.
