Overview

During the bachelor’s program in Packaging and Brand Design, students learn to design packaging and brand materials for businesses and industry. During their studies, students gain design, R&D and entrepreneurship skills.

Creative problem solving and teamwork skills are at the core of the studies. Graduates from the program are used to collaborating with professionals of different fields. Students learn to view design assignments from various points of view and to take into account the requirements of both the packaging industry and client brands. They work in a business setting but are able to consider the social and ethical needs of users as well as sustainability and the environment.

The programme strongly emphasises graphic design and the application of industrial design methods to packaging and brands. As studies advance, more and more of the learning will take place in real-life assignments and projects.

In the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Packaging and Brand Design, students learn to design packaging and brand materials for businesses and industries. During their studies, students gain design, R&D and entrepreneurs skills.

Creative problem solving and teamwork skills are at the core of the studies hence graduates from the program are used to collaborating with professionals of different fields.

The program is divided into common core competence and complementary competence studies.

  • The core competence studies equip you for a range of professional roles.
  • The complementary competence studies allow you to extend your skills and specialize in an area of your interest. The complementary competence studies may consist of studies in your own field, multidisciplinary studies or other skills supporting professional growth.

Duration and scope of studies: 4 years, 240 ECTS credits, including 30 credits of work placement in Finland or abroad.

Graduates can work in the packaging industry, advertising, brand development, design companies or retail. Their job titles can range from Packaging Designer or Art Director to Creative Director or Chief Design Officer.

Internationally, the packaging industry is a versatile, major employer. Finnish packaging know-how is at the top of the game worldwide. Our Packaging and Brand Design Programme has a strong international network of collaboration and academic exchange.
