LUT University is a pioneering science university in Lappeenranta, found in 1969. LUT University brings together the fields of Science and Business. They welcome students worldwide to apply to their international Master’s programs in Technology and Business Administration and Bachelor’s program in Technology.

Admission criteria
The application process is fast and simple. The students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis which means that if you meet the minimum criteria, you can get your acceptance within a month.
Tuition Fees & Scholarship
Citizens of the non-EU/EEA countries are required to pay the LUT tuition fee.
Bachelor’s Degree
- Studies starting in 2026:
- All Bachelor’s Programs: 12,000 € / year
- Studies starting in 2025:
- Non-double Degree: 9500 €/year.
- Double Degree: 9000 €/year.
Master’s Degree
- Studies starting in 2026:
- All Master’s Programs: 15,000 € / year
- Studies starting in 2025:
- Master’s degree: 13 500 €/year.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT
The first-year tuition fee is to be paid following the deadlines given by LUT admission team. Neglecting the deadline will lead to closing of your study right as well as cancellation of your possible enrollment. If the option for early bird discount is offered on your letter of acceptance, it is only valid for three weeks after the admission letter has been sent.
Early bird tuition fees are:
- Bachelor’s degree: EUR 10 000
- Master’s degree: EUR 10 000
NOTE: Bachelor Double degree programs, no early bird discounts available. The payment amount is always EUR 12 000.
SCHOLARSHIPS
BACHELOR’S
All tuition fees are first collected and then part of it will be refunded for awarded students according to the scholarship percentages. The scholarships are granted during October-November in each academic year. The awardees are informed via email.
[Non-Double Degree] For Technology and Engineering Science, Industrial Engineering and Management, Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable International Business -programmes:
- For the first academic year, there are no scholarships available. An option for the early bird discount is offered.
- For the second academic year:
- 2026 intake: 3 000 € scholarships will be granted for the students successfully completing the studies on the first academic year (at least 60 ects credits*)
- 2022-2025 intake: 50% scholarships will be granted for the students successfully completing the studies on the first academic year (at least 60 ects credits*)
- For the third academic year:
- 2026 intake: 3 000 € scholarships will be granted for the students successfully completing min. 120 ects credits during first two academic years.
- 2022-2025 intake: 50% scholarships will be granted for the students successfully completing min. 120 ects credits during first two academic years.
- The second and third year scholarships are granted automatically. No application is needed.
*NOTE! If only attending ONE semester during one academic year (1.8.-31.7.) the credit requirement for the next year’s scholarship is 30 ECTS instead of 60 ECTS. The credits are always checked in August after each academic year.
[Double Degree] For Electrical Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Energy Technology and Software and systems engineering -programmes:
General Information
- No scholarships or early-bird discounts are granted during the application process.
- Tuition fees are collected in full; scholarships are applied as a partial refund based on awarded percentages.
- Only students required to pay tuition fees are eligible for scholarships.
- Students must have a Finnish bank account to receive payments. Bank details must be submitted via a separate e-form sent by the scholarship team by the end of November. Payments cannot be made to third-party accounts.
First year DD-scholarships are granted during the first Autumn semester
- All paying students are ranked based on their previous academic success (GPA / admission documents).
- The GPA considered in the LUT selection process is an arithmetic average of all individual study records included in the degree and graded with numbers, including the Final Thesis and excluding the grades for all the fails.
- All international GPA’s are converted to the scale used in Finland (1-5)
- HEBEI students are ranked and awarded separately.
DD-scholarship categories intake 2025
There are two different categories of scholarships. Total number of scholarships is bind to income of tuition fees and cannot overdue 5,5 % of Tuition fee income.
- Category 1. Scholarship is 3000 € (max. of 10% of applicants)
- Category 2. Scholarship is 1000 € (max. 40 % of applicants)
DD-scholarship categories intake 2024 or earlier
There are three different categories of scholarships. Total number of scholarships is bind to income of tuition fees and cannot overdue 11,1% of Tuition fee income.
- Category 1. Scholarship is 6000 € (max. of 4% of applicants)
- Category 2. Scholarship is 3000 € (max. of 10% of applicants)
- Category 3. Scholarship is 1000 € (max. 40 % of applicants)
Second and third year DD-scholarships
- Scholarships do not continue automatically; students are ranked anew each academic year.
- For the second and third year, the scholarships are awarded based on the GPA of the past academic year at LUT. GPA printed on the Transcript of Records (Sisu) is used for ranking.
- After first year at LUT, minimun of 60 ects + GPA ranking (For LUT recruits)
- After second year at LUT, minimum of 120 ects + GPA ranking (For LUT recruits)
- Only students who have paid the full year’s tuition are eligible for the ranking list.
- Preliminary estimates of individual student’s scholarship cannot be given in advance, as the success of other students will affect the final results.
- HEBEI students are ranked and awarded separately.
MASTER’S
Scholarships and Early bird discount does not apply to the LUT cooperated programmes in Software Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
As a non-EU/EEA citizen (Swiss citizens excluded) you are required to pay a tuition fee but you are also eligible to apply a scholarship. Possible scholarships depend on the year of your intake. Preliminary statements about anybody’s possibility for getting a scholarship cannot be given as it all depends on the other applicants as well.
Second academic year: LUT Scholarship
When required to pay a tuition fee you will be automatically awarded LUT Scholarship of EUR 5 000 for the second academic year if having completed a minimum of 60 ECTS credits of studies included in the personal study plan during the first academic year.
The required ECTS credits will be automatically checked for and they must be included on your Transcript of Records by the end of the first academic year i.e. by 31 July.
The Fulbright – LUT Graduate Award
Students with a nationality of the United States of America who hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or are about to complete one can apply to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
Successful applicants will be awarded a Fulbright – LUT Graduate Award by The Fulbright Finland Foundation.
