LUT University is a pioneering science university in Lappeenranta, found in 1969. LUT University brings together the fields of Science and Business. STUDY PROGRAMS

Through Edunation, you can apply for bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in the field of technology and business provided by LUT University.

In collaboration with Edunation, LUT University offers a unique Pathway program for students who are interested in the Master’s Program in International Business and Entrepreneurship. The program will take place online, and you will become familiar with topics such as international business strategy, business growth and global marketing.

Admission criteria

The application process is fast and simple. The students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis which means that if you meet the minimum criteria, you can get your acceptance within a month.

    Educational background

    Applicants who have completed a degree outside of Finland by 31 August 2021 that gives them eligibility for corresponding university studies in their home country are eligible for rolling admission to LUT’s English-language Bachelor’s programs.

    Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:

    • Degree Certificate of Upper Secondary Education
    • Transcript of records
    • Curriculum of Upper Secondary Education
      Note: a curriculum contains a list of courses and their contents; it is not equivalent to the Transcript of Records. Applicants must include the curriculum outlining the contents and outcomes of the mathematics courses of their Upper Secondary degree. Please note that the curriculum must cover the complete duration of upper secondary school, a curriculum for one year only is not sufficient.
    • English Translations of documents

    Note: Original certificates must be shown when arriving in Finland. All documents need to be translated to either Finnish, Swedish or English, if the original document is in none of those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.

    Proof of nationality

    • Passport ID page OR official ID card indicating nationality

    Note: You will need a valid passport when you apply for a visa or residence permit.

    English language certificate

    Applicants must prove their language skills in one of the following ways:

    • The applicant has completed one of the following language tests and meets the minimum score requirements.
    • The applicant has completed a higher education degree in English in a higher education institution located in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or the EU/EEA. The applicant must have studied in the country in question.
    • The applicant has completed an upper secondary degree in English in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
    • The applicant’s score in the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section is at least 480. The section must be completed after 1 January 2018. College Board must submit the results to LUT directly, and the results must be available when the application is being processed.

    Other requirements

    The requirements for grades are as follows, on a scale of failed to excellent:

    • arithmetic grade average “good”
    • advanced mathematics grade “good”
    • mathematics and natural sciences grade average “good”.
  • Admission requirements for Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration

    Make sure you have all the following documents ready when you fill out the application form.

    Educational background for Business Administration

    Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:

    • Bachelor’s degree certificate from a related field (business) with at least 24 ECTS credits in the field of your chosen master’s program
    • Transcript of Records, with a minimum score of 3.5 on the scale of 1.0-5.0
    • A document explaining the credit system used during the bachelor studies

    Copies for the educational documents have to be officially certified. Whenever the degree has been completed in a certain country, there may be country-specific requirements for document certification involved. 

    Proof of nationality

    • Passport ID page OR official ID card indicating nationality

    Note: You will need a valid passport when you apply for a visa or residence permit.

    Language requirements

    A proof of English proficiency is required for all degrees at LUT University. You will need to take at least one of these tests with the following scores:

    • IELTS: 6.0
    • TOEFL iBT: 80
    • TOEFL pBT: 550
    • TOEFL cBT: 213
    • Revised TOEFL Paper-delivered Test: 60
    • PTE academic: 54
    • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): C

    The language certificate must be valid during the application period. The Pearson test of English, IELTS and TOEFL certificates are valid for two years. There are no limitations on the period of validity of the other certificates. A TOEFL test score will only be accepted if it has been directly submitted from the TOEFL Educational Testing Service (ETS). Edunation’s TOEFL code is C046.

    Language test is not required if bachelor’s degree has been completed in English in an EU/EEA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA.

    GMAT/GRE

    Rolling admission: for master studies in business, you must submit GMAT/GRE Test results:

    • GMAT: 550 OR
    • GRE General Test: Verbal Reasoning 152 + Quantitative Reasoning 152 + Analytical Writing 3.0

    Interview

    For some degree programs, you will be invited for an online interview. The invitation to the interview will be sent if you meet the minimum requirements for the degree program within 2 weeks after submitting university your application to the university.

    You are eligible to apply to programs in Technology with one of the following degrees.

Tuition Fees & Scholarship

Tuition Fees

Students who are from a non-EU/EEA country are required to pay a tuition fee.

ROLLING ADMISSIONS

  • Double degree Bachelor’s programs in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Software and Systems Engineering: 9 000 € per academic year
  • Bachelor’s programs in Technology and Engineering Science and Industrial Engineering and Management:
    • 7 600 € on the first academic year
    • 9 500 € on the second and third academic years
  • Master’s degree programs: 13 500 € per academic year

REGULAR ADMISSIONS

  • Double degree Bachelor’s programs in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Software and Systems Engineering: 9 000 € per academic year
  • Bachelor’s programs in Technology and Engineering Science and Industrial Engineering and Management: 9 500 € per academic year

Scholarships

EARLY BIRD FEE

LUT University offers an early bird fee for the master’s programs. If you accept your place at LUT and pay the tuition fee within three weeks, you can get an early bird discount of EUR 6000 for the first academic year. The amount of early-bird tuition fee is EUR 7 500.

The ultimate and final deadline to confirm the place is however, always 30 April 2022 at 15:00 (UTC+3) without any exceptions.

ROLLING ADMISSION

Bachelor’s degree scholarship in Technology and Engineering Science and Industrial Engineering and Management

  • 1st academic year, there are no Tuition Fee Waivers available
  • 2nd academic year, 50% Tuition Fee Waiver will be granted for the students successfully completing the studies on the first academic year (min.of 60 ECTS credits)
  • 3rd academic year, 50% Tuition Fee Waiver will be granted for the students successfully completing the studies on the first and second academic year (min.of 120 ECTS credits/year)

Double degree programs scholarships

The Tuition Fee Waivers are awarded by the end of September in every academic year. If awarded the Tuition Fee Waiver, the paid fee is returned partially according to the scholarship percentages.

There are three different categories of Tuition Fee Waivers:

  • Category I: 2/3 of the annual tuition fee
  • Category II: 1/3 of the annual tuition fee
  • Category III: EUR 1000

Master’s degree scholarship – First Academic Year

A total of 4 Finland Scholarships are offered in Rolling Admission for the first academic year. Finland Scholarship for the first academic year includes the following:

  • Full cover for the tuition fee
  • EUR 5 000 for the living costs

The scholarships are awarded for the 4 first admitted students.

If awarded a Finland Scholarship, the offered place in the program must be confirmed within 14 days after having been e-mailed the Certificate of Admission and the Scholarship Decision. If not, the admitted student will lose the Finland Scholarship and it will be re-awarded to the next admitted student.

REGULAR ADMISSION

Master’s degree scholarship – First Academic Year

One Finland Scholarship is offered per each program for the first academic year.

NOTE: There are no Finland Scholarships awarded in the following programs: Biorefineries, Industrial Design Engineering, Electric Transportation Systems and Water Technology.

Finland Scholarship for the first academic year includes the following:

  • Full cover for the tuition fee
  • EUR 5 000 for the living costs

The Finland Scholarship will be awarded in the order of the highest points scored in the evaluation process among the ones being eligible for the scholarship and having applied for it.

The admitted student will claim the awarded Finland Scholarship by confirming his/her place in the program by the deadline of 30 April 2022 at 15:00 (UTC+3). If the admitted student does not confirm the offered place in the program by the given deadline, s/he will automatically lose the awarded Finland Scholarship along with the offered place in the p

The condition for Finland Scholarship is that the student starts his/her studies in Finland as expected. The EUR 5 000 for the living costs will be paid on the student’s Finnish bank account once the academic year has begun and after him/her having arrived in Finland.

REGULAR AND ROLLING ADMISSION

Master’s Degree – Second Academic Year

You can get a scholarship of EUR 6 000 for the second academic year, if meeting with the requirement of having completed a minimum of 60 ECTS credits of studies included in the personal study plan during the first academic year.

With a possible scholarship the tuition fee is EUR 7 500 for the second academic year.

The required ECTS credits will be automatically checked for and they must be included on your Transcript of Records by the end of the first academic year i.e. by 31 July. If the requirement for the minimum ECTS credits is met with, you will automatically be awarded a scholarship of EUR 6 000 for the second academic year.
