All bachelor’s degree programs last the duration of 3 years and award the graduate with 180 ECTS credits.
Master’s degree programs last 2 years and award 120 ECTS credits.

Admission requirements for bachelor's degree

Educational background
Applicants who have completed a degree outside of Finland by 31 August 2021 that gives them eligibility for corresponding university studies in their home country are eligible for rolling admission to LUT’s English-language Bachelor’s programs.
Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:
- Degree Certificate of Upper Secondary Education
- Transcript of records
- Curriculum of Upper Secondary Education
Note: a curriculum contains a list of courses and their contents; it is not equivalent to the Transcript of Records. Applicants must include the curriculum outlining the contents and outcomes of the mathematics courses of their Upper Secondary degree. Please note that the curriculum must cover the complete duration of upper secondary school, a curriculum for one year only is not sufficient. - English Translations of documents
Note: Original certificates must be shown when arriving in Finland. All documents need to be translated to either Finnish, Swedish or English, if the original document is in none of those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.

English language certificate
Applicants must prove their language skills in one of the following ways:
- The applicant has completed one of the following language tests and meets the minimum score requirements.
- TOEFL iBT 90 (MyBest scores accepted)
- IELTS Academic 6.5
- PTE Academic 62
- C1 Advanced level C or higher
- C2 Proficiency level C1 or higher
- The applicant has completed a higher education degree in English in a higher education institution located in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or the EU/EEA. The applicant must have studied in the country in question.
- The applicant has completed an upper secondary degree in English in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
- The applicant’s score in the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section is at least 480. The section must be completed after 1 January 2018. College Board must submit the results to LUT directly, and the results must be available when the application is being processed.
Other requirements
The requirements for grades are as follows, on a scale of failed to excellent:
- arithmetic grade average “good”
- advanced mathematics grade “good”
- mathematics and natural sciences grade average “good”.

Admission requirements for Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration

Educational background for Business Administration
Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:
- Bachelor’s degree certificate from a related field (business) with at least 24 ECTS credits in the field of your chosen master’s program
- Transcript of Records, with a minimum score of 3.5 on the scale of 1.0-5.0
- A document explaining the credit system used during the bachelor studies
Copies for the educational documents have to be officially certified. Whenever the degree has been completed in a certain country, there may be country-specific requirements for document certification involved.

The results for the GMAT and GRE tests are valid for 5 years from the date of taking the test and must be valid on the date of submitting the application.

MINIMUM ARITHMETIC GPA (For Early Admission)
The arithmetic GPA for the degree you have to apply with must be

The arithmetic GPA evaluated in the LUT selection process is an arithmetic average of all individual study records included in the degree and graded with numbers (including the Final Thesis and excluding the grades for all the fails)

Tuition Fees
Bachelor’s Studies
For the Bachelor’s programmes starting in the academic year 2022-2023, the tuition fees are:
- EUR 9 500/each academic year in Bachelor’s Programmes in Technology and Engineering Science and Industrial Engineering and Management
Early Bird discount: When accepted to Technology and Engineering Science or Industrial Engineering and Management you are granted an Early Bird discount of EUR 2000 on your first year’s tuition fee:
The tuition fee must be paid within 21 days of the admission decision.
- EUR 9 000/each academic year in double degree programmes
Citizens of the non-EU/EEA countries (excluding Switzerland) must pay a tuition fee for their studies in the international programmes in Finland in general and also at LUT University.
Master’s Studies
- EUR 9 500/each academic year
Scholarships
Bachelor’s Studies
Regular Programs (Technology, Engineering, Science, Industrial Engineering, and Management):
- First academic year: No scholarships available.
- Second academic year: 50% scholarships for those who successfully complete the first year (min. 60 ECTS credits).
- Third academic year: 50% Tuition Fee Waiver for those successfully completing min. 120 ECTS credits in the first and second years.
- If students continue to a Master’s program after their Bachelor’s at LUT University, the first year of the Master’s program costs EUR 7,500.
Double Degree Programs:
- Scholarships announced by the end of October each academic year.
- Three scholarship categories:

- Category I: 2/3 tuition fee waiver
- Category II: 1/3 tuition fee waiver
- Category III: EUR 1,000 tuition fee waiver
- First-year scholarship calculated from total paid tuition fees, not automatic for the second year.
- Second and third-year scholarships based on the previous year’s GPA.
- If students continue to a Master’s program after their Bachelor’s at LUT University, the first year of the Master’s program costs EUR 7,500.
Master’s Studies
Early Bird discount (First Academic Year):
When required to pay a tuition fee, you are offered an Early Bird Discount of EUR 6 000 for the first academic year if confirming your place and paying the rest of the tuition fee of EUR 7 500 within 21 days from the date of having been emailed the official email for being admitted.
Early Bird discount is available in both Regular Admission and Early Admission.
Finland Scholarship (First Academic Year):
- Eligibility: Applicable to Regular Admission students required to pay tuition fees.
- Benefits: The Finland Scholarship covers your full tuition fee and provides an additional EUR 5,000 for living expenses during your first academic year.
- Selection: One Finland Scholarship is awarded for each program (excluding the online Master’s program in Biorefineries). It goes to the admitted student with the highest points in the evaluation process among eligible applicants who have applied for it.
- Application: You can apply for this scholarship while completing your program application. Please note that the Finland Scholarship is available only in Regular Admission (Master’s program in Biorefineries is excluded).
LUT Scholarship (Second Academic Year):
- Eligibility: Available to students required to pay tuition fees.
- Benefits: The LUT Scholarship offers EUR 6,000 for your second academic year if you complete a minimum of 60 ECTS credits as outlined in your personal study plan during the first academic year. With this scholarship, your tuition fee for the second academic year is EUR 7,500.
- Requirements: Ensure that the required ECTS credits are included in your Transcript of Records by July 31st, concluding the first academic year.
