The curriculum emphasizes abilities and skills in the holistic, service-oriented development of systems and software. It creates digital services by combining service design approaches with cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and distributed systems.

The curriculum provides a comprehensive approach to software development, including cutting-edge techniques like no-code to use software and infrastructures, data-driven systems, and linked technologies to assure long-term and human-driven company success through digital services.

The lectures and courses employ unique and interactive teaching and learning strategies, such as a flipped classroom and gamification. Furthermore, the program emphasizes the practical and holistic development of digital systems and services, in addition to teaching essential theoretical concepts.

The curriculum is adaptable, incorporating parts of blended, distance, and hybrid teaching, but it is primarily designed as a full-time program with in-person events at the Lahti campus.

This program will prepare you to become an expert in the development of human-centered digital services that use cutting-edge digital technologies.

You will acquire:

1. The ability to design, build, and evaluate data-driven, linked, software-intensive smart services. You will learn how to analyze, develop, and manage new software-based digital services in the sector.
2. The ability to analyze a situation and find and extract human-centered requirements and values for digital services;
3. Expertise in designing, evaluating, and adapting software processes and development technologies to fit the requirements of human-driven digital services;
4. Establish a worldwide professional network by integrating into a multi-cultural working environment with a practical focus and partnership with businesses.

The Master’s Programme in Digital Systems and Service Development lasts two years. It leads to the Master of Science in Technology, or M.Sc. (Tech.), with 120 ECTS credits.

The curriculum includes core, advanced specialization, and elective courses, as well as a Master’s thesis.
