The double-degree Nordic Master’s Programme in Sustainable ICT Solutions of Tomorrow trains experts to build ethical, useful, and privacy-aware software for a sustainable future. The programme covers ICT and software knowledge, skills, and competences, digital solution and service design, development, and deployment, sustainable and ethical decisions, and user experience and privacy.

The programme teaches software development, technologies and system design, digitalization, and innovation with a sustainable objective and demand. Students might specialize in digital sustainability, innovation, or change.

The Nordic Master’s Programme in Sustainable ICT Solutions of Tomorrow seeks to train experts who can create ethical, useable, and privacy-conscious ICT solutions for a sustainable future.

Furthermore, the concentration in sustainable ICT solutions gives students a sustainable perspective, which means that they

a. Use ethical research and development methodologies while offering ICT solutions;

b. Consider both humans and machines as users of the solutions.

c. Are conscious of how their ICT solutions affect the environment and society.


After finishing the program, alumni will have acquired:

a. Expertise in environmental challenges, requirements engineering, software quality and impact, software interaction design, innovation and networking, and strategic and business analysis;

b. Proficiency in project management, teamwork, problem-solving (analytical and critical thinking), ethics, cultural awareness, entrepreneurship and employability, and user-centric design abilities;

c. Proficiency in sustainability, software engineering tools and processes, as well as software design and development

d. A professional network of Nordic and European actors working on sustainable ICT development.

The Nordic Master’s Programme in Sustainable ICT Solutions for Tomorrow is a two-year programme. It leads to the Master of Science in Technology, or M.Sc. (Tech.), with 120 ECTS credits.

This is a dual-degree program designed in collaboration with Aalborg University Copenhagen (AAU), Denmark. Students admitted to this Master’s programme will obtain a degree certificate from both LUT and AAU once they have completed the degree requirements at both universities.

The programme consists of basic and advanced specialty studies, as well as a Master’s thesis.

The programme is organized into four semesters, each with 30 ECTS credits. The studies involve an exchange period at a partner university.

Graduates can pursue careers as sustainability consultants, software developers, software architects, user experience professionals, and project managers.
