Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is the largest applied science university in Finland and offers a wide set of study programs both at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. The university was founded in 2007 and is located in Helsinki.

    • Copy of the final/official higher secondary school certificate or vocational qualification which gives eligibility for higher education studies in your own country

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a minimum scope of 210 credit points (ECTS) containing/combined with 40 credit points (ECTS) of higher education studies in a related field
    • Transcript of records
    • Work certificate(s) of at least 24 months/2 years after bachelor graduation obtained by 31 July 2022 at the latest

    EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

    Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit one of the following documents to apply to Bachelor of Health Care in Nursing (top-up):

    • Advanced Diploma in General Nursing (duration 3 years after completion of an upper secondary qualification) completed at International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) in Sri Lanka OR
    • Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (duration 3 years after completion of an upper secondary qualification) awarded by the State Board of Nursing and Midwifery or an equivalent in India OR
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (duration 4 years after completion of an upper secondary qualification) awarded by a local examination board or other similar official body in Philippines OR
    • Some other qualifications completed at an accredited educational institution in Sri Lanka, India or Philippines with an extent, content and level that corresponds to some of the above-mentioned degrees.

    Bachelor of Health Care in Physiotherapy (top-up)

    EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

    Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit:

    • Advanced Diploma in Physiotherapy (duration 3 years after completion of an upper secondary qualification) completed at International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) in Sri Lanka, or
    • some other post-secondary higher education degree:
      • equivalent to the above mentioned qualifications in terms of extent, content and level,
      • awarded by an accredited higher education institution, a local examination board or other equivalent official body, and
      • at least 3 years in duration (after completion of an upper secondary qualification).

Scholarships

Early Bird discount

Metropolia offers an Early Bird discount on tuition fee of the first academic term for applicants who accept their study places and register as present no later than 7 days after the announcement of the student selection by 3 pm (local time in Finland). The Early Bird discount is:

  • 1 500 € for study rights starting in spring term 2024 or before
  • 1 000 € for study rights starting in autumn term 2024 or after

Finnish language

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Scholarships are awarded based on the results of the YKI Finnish language proficiency test, which includes basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Each level of proficiency on the YKI test corresponds to a scholarship of 3000 euros.
  • During your studies at Metropolia, you can receive a scholarship for a maximum of three times, with one scholarship available per academic year.

Specifics for Students Starting After January 1, 2019:

  • If you commenced your studies on or after January 1, 2019, you will be eligible for a fixed scholarship amount of 3000 euros.

Application of Scholarships:

  • The scholarship opportunity applies to both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs at Metropolia UAS.

Additional Opportunities for Master’s Students:

  • Master’s degree students have the potential to achieve at least one scholarship. However, to obtain multiple scholarships, particularly reaching intermediate levels over two academic years, it will require substantial independent work and active language usage in everyday life, in addition to your Finnish studies.

These scholarships are designed to support non-EU and non-EEA students pursuing their education at Metropolia UAS.
