Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is the largest applied science university in Finland and offers a wide set of study programs both at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. The university was founded in 2007 and is located in Helsinki.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit one the following documents to Edunation:

    • Copy of the final/official upper secondary school certificate
    • Transcript of Records with a GPA 50% or above. This is required to be able to apply through Edunation.
    • Proof of English language proficiency
    • Valid proof of identification (Passport)

    Note: Original certificates must be shown when arriving in Finland. All documents need to be translated to either Finnish, Swedish or English, if the original document is in none of those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.

    The following documents are accepted as proof of identity:  

    • A biometric passport (ICAO 9303 standard compliant)
    • Non-biometric passport

    The passport/identity card has to comply with the ICAO 9303 standard. Other passports/identity cards are not accepted. All ICAO compliant documents carry the following logo. The logo is located outside of the front cover of the biometric passport or on the front or back cover of the biometric identity card.

    Please provide your biometric passport or EU/EEA identity card number in the application form. Additionally, ensure you attach a copy of the document to your application.

      • Minimum of 210 ECTS or 3.5 years of full-time study in the healthcare field

      • Must have a foreign higher education degree in the field of technology with a scope equivalent to at least 240 credit points (ECTS) or 4 years of full-time study.
    • Master of Engineering in Computing in Construction
      • Completion of a foreign higher education degree in the field of technology with a scope equivalent to at least 240 credit points (ECTS) or 4 years of full-time study.

      • Must have completed Metropolia’s Open UAS online course Me as a programmer (i.e. AMKosaaja) 
      • GMAT test: with a total score of at least 500 points, or
      • The GRE test: with point score of at least 150 points in both the quantitative and verbal reasoning sections

    GMAT/GRE (Rolling Only)

    • Metropolia’s GRE code is 0925.

    • Acceptable GRE tests are the GRE General Test and the GRE Revised General Test. Metropolia accepts also GMAT™ Online exam and GRE® General Test at home. GRE Subject Test results are not considered in student selection.
    • If the relevant test scores are not available for Metropolia by the time the application is submitted or if the scores are below the minimum requirement, the application will be rejected. Documents printed or sent by the applicant themselves will not be taken into account.

    About ECTS

    ECTS refers to European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System where one full-time academic year is equivalent to 60 higher education credits. More information on ECTS credit system on the European Commission website.

    NOTE: The student selection is conditional until the certificates used as a basis for student selection have been checked. In other words, your eligibility may not be checked before you are offered a study place. Metropolia may withdraw the admission if an applicant is not eligible to apply, has given false information or does not deliver all the required documents by the deadline.

    *OR Applicants must have completed other higher education degree that is:

    Selection Method

    All eligible applicants will be invited to an interview and it will be evaluated scale pass/fail. 

    NOTE: Student selection is conditional until Metropolia has:

    • verified the educational qualifications used as a basis of student selections. 
    • checked that the applicant has sufficient health and functional capacity.

    Metropolia may cancel admission if the applicant has provided incorrect information in his/her application, fails to submit information concerning their health status as required, or cannot be considered fit to study based on the health status assessment made by Metropolia.

Scholarships

Early Bird discount

Metropolia offers an Early Bird discount on tuition fee of the first academic term for applicants who accept their study places and register as present no later than 7 days after the announcement of the student selection by 3 pm (local time in Finland). The Early Bird discount is:

  • 1 500 € for study rights starting in spring term 2024 or before
  • 1 000 € for study rights starting in autumn term 2024 or after

Finnish language

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Scholarships are awarded based on the results of the YKI Finnish language proficiency test, which includes basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Each level of proficiency on the YKI test corresponds to a scholarship of 3000 euros.
  • During your studies at Metropolia, you can receive a scholarship for a maximum of three times, with one scholarship available per academic year.

Specifics for Students Starting After January 1, 2019:

  • If you commenced your studies on or after January 1, 2019, you will be eligible for a fixed scholarship amount of 3000 euros.

Application of Scholarships:

  • The scholarship opportunity applies to both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs at Metropolia UAS.

Additional Opportunities for Master’s Students:

  • Master’s degree students have the potential to achieve at least one scholarship. However, to obtain multiple scholarships, particularly reaching intermediate levels over two academic years, it will require substantial independent work and active language usage in everyday life, in addition to your Finnish studies.

These scholarships are designed to support non-EU and non-EEA students pursuing their education at Metropolia UAS.
