The program is structured as follows: 

• Common studies in Technology: 60 ECTS 

• Common Metropolia UAS studies: 10 ECTS 

• Professional studies: 60 ECTS 

• Specialization studies (Machine Design / Aircraft Engineering): 45 ECTS 

• Project studies: 10 ECTS 

• Elective studies: 10 ECTS 

• Work Placement: 30 ECTS (which can be completed abroad) 

• Thesis: 15 ECTS 

Students choose a specialization in their third year and must have completed 120 credits to begin major studies. Majors offered include Machine Design and Aircraft Engineering, with limited spots available based on student performance and demand. 

Graduates of the Mechanical Engineering program have strong employment prospects in a wide range of industries, including mechanics and aviation. The program prepares students for roles in design, product development, engineering mechanics, computer-aided design, and simulation. Additionally, graduates are well-positioned to pursue further studies at the Master’s level in prestigious universities in Finland and abroad.
