Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) is an innovative higher education institution that offers a cutting-edge ICT Program in Salo and in Turku. Studies at TUAS are working life-oriented – they combine theoretical studies with professional skills.

The Information Technology and Communications (ICT) program has 6 possible specialization tracks that students might choose during their first year:

This is because the program is designed especially for international students. Edunation offers students a streamlined and fast admission to the ICT program.

What comes to the job sector, there is a great need for ICT experts in Finland. Therefore, the ICT program takes place in Salo, a city full of technology companies. Students of the ICT program will be introduced to these companies from the very beginning of their studies. Through Edunation, you can apply for the Bachelor’s degree program in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the Bachelor’s degree program in Early Childhood Education (ECE)

ICT deals with technologies, methods, and tools such as software applications, data networks and cyber-security, games, and hi-tech electronic devices and systems. A graduate from the ICT program has wide and practically-oriented fundamental knowledge and skills.

ECE deals with the study of childhood education and family, using a pedagogy approach.

Turku UAS calculates the academic workload by ECTS credits. The average amount of ECTS credits for one academic year is 60 credits, which translates to approx. 1600 hours of work. One semester of workload generally translates to 30 ECTS credits.

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Information and Communications Technology
    • 4 years = 240 ECTS 
  • Bachelor of Social Services in Early Childhood Education
    • 4 years = 210 ECTS

Admission criteria

The application process is fast and simple. The students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis which means that if you meet the minimum criteria, you can get your acceptance within a month.

Educational background

Applicants who have completed a qualification outside Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:

  • Copy of the final/official higher secondary school certificate or vocational qualification which gives eligibility for higher education studies in your own country
  • Transcript of records (with overall GPA of 50% or above)

Note: Original certificates must be shown when arriving in Finland.

Proof of nationality

  • Copy of passport ID page OR official ID card indicating nationality

Note: All documents need to be translated to English, Swedish or Finnish if the original document is in none of those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.

Proof of English skills

  • English language certificate OR
  • Motivation video

No English minimum level required. Your English level will be assessed during the selection process.

The selection is based on an online interview or SAT test.

Online interview

If the applicant meets all the admission requirements, the university will invite the applicant by email. Interviews will be organized in October.

SAT test

If you have already taken the SAT test before the application period, you can apply with SAT test scores.

  • Only SAT test completed after March 2016 is accepted.
  • SAT Subject Tests are not accepted.
  • An official SAT score report must be ordered straight from the test organiser to be delivered to Turku University of Applied Sciences by 10 October 2020.
  • The code for Turku University of Applied Sciences is 6867.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for ICT is 11 500 EUR per academic year for non-EU/EEA students.


Students who start their studies in 2021 or later: Students can apply for a scholarship after the 1st academic year. TUAS grants scholarships based on Finnish language skills. The scholarship is 4 000 EUR and the student can receive one scholarship per academic year by completing a Finnish language level test.

Students who started their studies before 2021: Students can apply for a scholarship after the 1st academic year. All students who complete 55 ECTS study credits during the first academic year, are granted a 30 % scholarship of the 2nd year’s tuition fee.
