Forssa is the centre of the region’s commercial life and services of around 35,000 people, so there are various events taking place here.

Sporting town

The town is best known for a sporting town. Summer activities include pool kids, beach volleyball and diving sport. Swimming lover’s can spend their time swimming, splashing and playing with the indoor pool. For those who prefer outdoor swimming, Forssa has plenty of different beach locations and some of them are even opened in winter season.

Beautiful parks

Forssa is also well – recognized for its beautiful parks. The Forssa National Urban Park is in the heart of the town; having both historical, nostalgia architectures and modern city view also. Spending time for picnicking, relaxing and experiencing the peaceful life of town here would be nice.

In addition, there are other outdoor creations such as film festival, music festival, golf course and nature treks and other services that one could need. For example, shopping areas, accommodation, group outings, and so on.

  • Geography

    Forssa is located at the intersection of highways 2 and 10, in Tavastia Proper region. It is only an hour’s drive away from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Tampere, Turku (about 100 km from each of them)

  • Climate and weather

    Forssa is located almost in the centre of a triangle defined by the three largest major cities in Finland, which are Helsinki, Turku and Tampere. Hence, temperatures are usually not extreme. During the month of July you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 20 C° and 25 C°. Besides, the coolest month is in January with -7C° on average.


  • Shopping

    Forssa has some giant shopping centers, also many supermarkets surrounding the town, where people can find all kinds of products and services. Also, there are some second – hand stores if you have a need and flea market in this town for finding unique and exotic items.

  • Food and drink

    Restaurants and bars are mostly situated in the central town. The finest Finnish dishes made with locally produced ingredients; offering a good variety of local and ethnic food. Furthermore, there are some quick and easy family restaurants for the whole family, with fixed priced and diverse buffet lunch during the week. Different dietary needs are taken into consideration in most restaurants.

  • Getting around

    Forssa does not have an airport or railway station, so the only way to get in is by bus or by car. There is a railway station in nearby Jokioinen, on a heritage narrow gauge railway from Humppila on the Turku – Tampere railway, serviced Sundays in summer.

    Moreover, Forssa is located only about 100 km from Helsinki and the airport, and it takes about 1.5 hours to reach Forssa from Helsinki – Vantaa International Airpor by jumping on Matkahuolto express bus service.

  • Safety

    Like the rest of Finland, Forssa, is extremely safe.


Forssa campus is located around 1 km from the town centre. Forssa’s student building is located on a pleasant site 1.5 kilometres from the town centre. All day-to-day services are available from a large shopping centre situated locally. The student building has good facilities, such as a sauna, washing room and a drying room.

In Forssa, there are real estate agencies that offer housing for students. The Forssan Trio Oy has provided this area with housing services for students of various educational facilities since 1978 and were renovated in 2004.


Types of apartments

The building has 94 apartments

  • Studios (single – room)
  • Double – room apartments
  • Triple – room apartments.

The apartment’ spaces vary between 29 and 76.5 m2. Most of the apartments come with basic furniture. All apartments have wired internet connections. Besides, all residences have access to washing, sauna and recreational facilities, which the foundation has equipped according to the wishes of the residents. 



Forssa does not have an airport or railway station, thus, the only way to get in is by bus or by car.

By bus:

or single trips exceeding 60 kilometres, Matkahuolto grants a 50% discount for normal adult tickets. For shorter trips, the discount is smaller. The tickets are always cheaper when purchased online in advance. There is also a five-trip travel card available for students, that entitles the card holder for five travel times in the specified route. To receive the student discount, you must a full-time student at a Finnish institution, and have a student ID with Matkahuolto stamp on it. Alternatively, you can get a Matkahuolto and VR student ID from any bus terminal.

Lasten liikennepuisto – Traffic park for children

This spot is absolutely popular during summer season, especially as the park has no permission. Children, from 4 to 12 years, come here to learn about traffic behaviours, rules and responsibility when entering traffic. The park very welcomes children and family from June to August.

Kehräämö area

The spectacular Kehräämö area with museums and exhibition spaces that display the city’s history and heritage. This area has designed into a favorable event location. Besides, history has been honoured by renovating the Elävienkuvien Teatteri (Theatre of Living Pictures) in the heart of the city by River Loimijoki. You can also pay a visit to the past at the Hevossilta Museum Farm in the court yards of the 1800s and 1950s.
