LUT Winter School is a program, spanning over a bit less than two months during the wintertime. It is the ideal program if you are looking to experience high-quality education on a beautiful campus in Lappeenranta in the winter.

You will have an opportunity to learn and think about the relationship between economy, technology, and culture while also increasing your intercultural competence. And all the while exploring the breathtaking scenery of Finnish winter!

This academic program offers both period-long and intensive courses. All courses are designed for business and technology students, who are either completing their bachelor’s or doing their master’s degree.

  • Fees

    The LUT Winter School fee is composed of tuition and accommodation fees.

    Course package 1, Business and Management Studies:

    • tuition EUR 795
    • accommodation EUR 700

    Course package 2, intensive courses:

    • 1 week: tuition EUR 395, accommodation EUR 500
    • 2 weeks: tuition EUR 495, accommodation EUR 500

    Tuition fees include course material and 1 lunch/day. Accommodation fees include a furnished single room in shared apartments (2-3 rooms per apartment, shared bathroom/shower and kitchen. Note, there are no pillows/blankets in the rooms) in the Lappeenranta Student Housing Foundation LOAS.

    Each student will be provided with university accommodation. If you wish to have any other form of accommodation, you will need to arrange for yourself.

    For LUT students tuition is offered free of charge. Meals are not included.

  • Courses

    Academic program

    During the LUT Winter School you will have an excellent opportunity to study with other winter school participants as well as other LUT degree and exchange students. The program offers both subject courses, as well as language courses. All courses are conducted in English.

    The LUT Winter School offers the following course packages:

    • COURSE PACKAGE 1 – Business and Management Studies exchange program courses. Students can come for the whole winter school period 7 January – 1 March 2019 and attend the courses. Courses are at both advanced Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Courses vary from 2 to 6 ECTS credits. Students can take either all courses or make a selection of some of them. Note, that some courses’ schedules overlap.
    • COURSE PACKAGE 2 – Intensive courses. Students can also come for certain weeks to attend only intensive courses. Each intensive course lasts for one week and each course is 3 ECTS credits. Intensive courses are Master’s level.

    Lectures and tutorials are during the period 7 January –  22 February 2019. The last week of the Winter School 25 February – 1 March is an exam week. Note, not all courses have an exam. Check the detailed schedule of all courses below to find out whether there is an exam or not on your course(s). If you do not have exams, you can leave the winter school before the exam week.

  • Social program

    The LUT Winter School is not only about studying – we want to ensure that you make the most of the time spent with us at LUT. You are welcome to attend different social events with LUT exchange students to experience a taste of life in Finland and on the LUT campus. Most of events will be arranged by ESN Lappeenranta.
