In 2019, Metropolia was the most popular university of applied sciences in Finland – over 28 000 students applied to Metropolia’s various study programs.

Founded in 2007 and located in the Helsinki metropolitan area, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is the biggest applied science university in Finland and it offers a wide set of study programs both in Bachelor and Master level. In addition, Metropolia has extensive alumni connections, innovative learning environments and a pioneering approach to working life. In Metropolia, students can choose to study in the fields of Health Care, Social Services, Technology, Business or Culture.

Altogether over 19 000 students are enrolled in Metropolia’s degree programs. Additionally, with over 1 300 international students representing nearly 90 nationalities, Metropolia has very versatile student population.

Metropolia

Metropolia offers top-tiered higher education at both bachelor’s and master’s level in English.

Tuition fees

Bachelor’s Degrees

  • 10 000 € per academic year for the following degrees:
    • Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Logistics
    • Bachelor of Business Administration in European Business Administration
    • Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology
  • 11 000 €  per academic year for Bachelor of Health Care in Nursing
  • 11 000 € per academic year for Social Services
  • 12 000 € per academic year for Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics

Master’s Degrees

  • 11 000 € per academic year for the following degrees:
    • Master of Business Administration in Business Informatics
    • Master of Engineering in Business Informatics
    • Master of Engineering in Industrial Management
    • Master of Engineering in Information Technology
  • 12 000 € per academic year for the following degrees:
    • Master of Business Administration in Health Business Management
    • Master of Engineering in Health Business Management
    • Master of Social Services and Health care in Health Business Management

As per our Terms and Conditions, the paid tuition fee is refunded only in the case that the residence permit decision is negative or if the university is unable to organise the program.

 

Scholarships

Metropolia grants scholarships based on Finnish language skills to students who are required to pay tuition fees. A scholarship can be awarded based on a Finnish language level test completed during the academic year. The scholarship is 3 000 €. You can only receive one scholarship per academic year. Level tests can be performed in advance, i.e. if you have completed more than one level test in the previous year, they will be taken into account when granting scholarships for the following academic years.

The scholarship program applies to both bachelor’s and master’s programs.

The application process through Edunation is fast and simple. Students are accepted on a first come, first served basis which means that if you meet the admission requirements, you can get your acceptance in four weeks.

  • Admission requirements for bachelor's degrees

    Make you sure you have all the following documents ready when you fill out the application form.

    Educational background

    Applicants who have completed a qualification outside of Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:

    • Copy of the final/official higher secondary school certificate or vocational qualification which gives eligibility for higher education studies in your own country
    • Transcript of records (with a minimum GPA of around 60%)
    • Grading scale in English
      • Math and Physics grade are required to be eligible for Degree Program in Electronics
    • Motivation letter (for Degree Programs in International Business and Logistic, European Business Administration and Electronics)

    Note: Original documents must be shown when you arrive in Finland.

    Proof of nationality

    • Copy of passport ID page OR official ID card indicating nationality

    Language requirements

    • IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46, or equivalent.

    English language test is not required if your secondary education has been completed in English in a country where English is an official language (USA, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India, Philippines, etc.).

    SAT

    Only for Bachelor in Information and Technology: you can apply with SAT test result with a minimum score of 400 from Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 400 in Maths. You do not need SAT, if your GPA is 60% and you have submitted an English language proof.

    Interview

    An online interview is conducted for the following programs:

    • International Business and Logistics
    • European Business Administration
    • Nursing

    Note: All documents need to be translated to English, Finnish or Swedish, if the original document is in none those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.

  • Admission requirements for master's degrees

    Make you sure you have all the following documents ready when you fill out the application form.

    Educational background

    Applicants who have completed a qualification outside of Finland must submit the following documents to Edunation:

    • Copy of bachelor’s degree certificate or other higher education degree from a related field
    • Transcript of records (with a minimum GPA of around 60%)
    • Grading scale in English
    • Pre-assignment required for Degree Program in Industrial Management

    Note: Original documents must be shown when you arrive in Finland.

    Proof of nationality

    • Copy of passport ID page OR official ID card indicating nationality

    Language requirements

    • IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 70 or equivalent.

    English language test is not required if your bachelor’s studies have been completed in English in a country where English is an official language (USA, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India, Philippines, etc.).

    Interview

    An online interview is conducted for the following programs:

    • Business Informatics

    Work experience

    • Employment certificate with a minimum of 2 years work experience after bachelor’s degree

     

    Note: All documents need to be translated to English, Finnish or Swedish, if the original document is in none of those languages. The translations need to be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.
